A beat consists of drums, bass, samples, and instruments, whether synthesized or real. Beat making nowadays is not as difficult as it had been in the past. Before, it would usually take a day for a person to record any basic beats through the use of a drum kit. Nowadays, beat making is as simple as making beats on computer.
Out of all the components of a beat, the drums are perhaps the most important. What you have to do is to isolate a drum from a break beat. Choose a sample and take the kick, snare, and hi-hat. Remember that it is always best to take those that are most isolated because they contain only minimal background noise.
Next, load the drum samples in a music sequencer program. Using the program, replace the default drum kit with your own drums. Then, choose a pattern for your song and choose the tempo. If you are working on the intro, try to keep it simple. Choosing the main drum pattern and the bridge drum pattern will finish the basic layout of your beat. You may also want to layer your beat for a more creative finish.
Making beats is as simple as combining sound loops in a certain sequence. These loops must be well-coordinated and they must be correctly timed. Keep in mind that beats can be put together in a variety of ways, depending on the kind of style you want to go with. You can always use your creativity and imagination in making beats on computer to make them more interesting and pleasing to the ear.
